Today is the last day for Ales 204. In today's lecture, we had a great presentation about pecha kucha. In Ales 204, I learnt a lot of knowledge about social media and communication. I had a chance to get access to Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, pecha kucha, wikipedia, and blog. Although I knew these    items from the Internet, I never had a chance to get a further understanding about these social media network. I really appreciate Ales 204 which extend the using of these social media network. I learnt that social media network can be also used in science research and contribute to literature studies.
When I wrote the scientific article, I get a lot of help from the lab that I learnt how to do in-text citation and APA reference. I had great fun from the class that I made new friends though these social media network, which was a fresh new experience for me, and it was a great try for experiencing culture shock from the Internet culture aspect. In this lecture, I also had a wonderful chance to learn about how to give a presentation to audience in public area, and I had the chance to practice. I like to introduce my friends to take this course because I think it is a great

The Effect of Communication in Working Field

Making communications efficient is very important in today’s society since it can reduce possible mistakes in various situations. Recently I read an article which talks about how efficient communication can help to make full use of human resources(Charvatova & van der Veer, 2006). After reading, I have learnt some ideas about the effect of communication in human resource management.

The influence could start from interviewing. When people are having an interview with the human resource associates, a good and efficient communication is very likely to  help people to present themselves well, which help them to leave a great impression and obtain a greater opportunity to win the job. During the interview, interviewee and interviewer communicate to find if the interviewee is suitable for the job. In a mean while, it is also a chance for the interviewee to figure out if the company is really what he has his heart set on.

The effects of communication can be influenced by various methods and language that  are used during work. In order to corporate with each others well, leaders would like to talk with their team members again and again. Usually the methods can be classified into social media communication and traditional communication. Oral language and pictures are used to show emotion and meanings in social media communication. Good communicating in social media network can help team members and leaders to build a harmony relationship. Traditional methods such as meeting, private talks, and letters can be used to transfer serious massages. Traditional communication methods can help to emphasize the importance and of serious information objectively. The effect can be both negative and positive. For example, the members in the team might feel stressful if the leader always using big words and traditional communication methods. The stressful environment is bad for both staffs themselves and working efficiency.

A a conclusion, the effect of communication in human resource management field can be both positive and negative. In order to increase the positive effect, choosing the correct communication method and language is essential in human resources management.

What I really think wiki is…

Wikipedia is a Multilanguage non-profit on-line encyclopedia website. It starts a project called Nupedia and develops in January 2001 in the United State by Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger (Wikipedia, history of wikipedia). Wikipedia becomes popular in the internet. When people decided to learn some new items, the first choice is Wikipedia. It is very convenient to get access to variety of information though Wikipedia website. Different form traditional encyclopedia that the recourse cited in the Wiki could be anything, such as website information or news. However, the traditional encyclopedia would only use published academic recourse as reference materials. Every day, thousands of information is added to Wiki that allows the website to be rich in information, but every coin has two sides. So many information that some of the information might lack of accuracy. Traditional encyclopedia is edited by editors so that it is more accuracy than wiki.
My topic is Liu An Guapian which is a famous Chinese green tea. This topic is too abroad. In order to introduce this topic well, I narrow down the topic and I choose one of the specific aspect to introduce this topic. I prefer to introduce Liu An Guapian from history aspect. Since the materials about Liu An guapian is very limit, I have to use information from website, which I think the information is not academic enough, but reliable for using. I also consider that the article I wrote is not a scientific article but a briefly history story. Since the article do not use academic reference, it cannot be used in academic area. This article does not contain scientific language so that people can understand it well without explanation. I take my article as an example to state that in an academic writing, information from Wiki should be avoided.

Facebook pages

MSN, twitter, Facebook are the three of most popular media social applications in the present world. MSN focuses on instant messaging between people. It is like a room that enables people to invite others to come in and have a chat. Twitter and Facebook are more like an announcement wall. People can post ideas or pictures to the whole world. The difference between twitter and Facebook is that people can only post 144 characters one time, while Facebook allows people to write articles, upload videos, and share interesting news. One of the most significant advantages of Facebook is that people can present a detailed personal information to visitors.
People can benefit from a page on Facebook in two ways. For individuals who are looking for jobs, they can state their job goals and post their resumes on Facebook. It provides an opportunity for employers to get access to information about the candidates efficiently. In the page, people can categorize their personal information so that visitors can pick up the information. The information is concentrated in several key words, so that everything showed about the owner is essential. Employers can chat with the page owner under the page.
For companies, a page on Facebook is also very useful to promote the companies or the products. In order to achieve this successfully, people post pictures, videos and articles to make the advertisement vivid. Companies and customers can discuss the products and serves on line.

I think communication plays an important role in my major especially my minor. Marketing is about selling and purchasing. During the process, communication cannot be avoided. Communication always plays a key role in business. The methods of communicating are also becoming more and more influential. They have a great influence on communication. Since the Internet is almost available in everywhere in the world, social media communicating is becoming popular. People can get access to the world faster, easier and wildlier. Communication is always important. Whenever the officers discuss something might have a great influence, the officers will hold a meeting. People get together and talk whatever they want. The more communication they make, the less chance of making mistakes they have.
Generally speaking, I think I am the person who enjoys speaking and listening. Welcome to talk to me. At the end of this introduction, I would like to introduce a classmate to you: Feiyan Ales.
